Reflection
These words were spoken by the Liverpool FC football manager, Juergen Klopp, when he was asked the question, “ What makes a great coach?”
One would have thought he would talk about tactics, the modern game, the pressures of management at the top level, experience, drive, dedication, determination, and all the other qualities you need to manage or coach at the top level.
And yet he chose Listening.
He is obviously a great listener.
And he understands that being a great listener is of the utmost importance because he needs to understand his players. And that understanding will lead to his better relationships with all his players.
It will promote respect and trust.
This follows on very nicely from last week’s QR. Engaging with the needs of his players.
