“Regeneration, repair, and restoration is our body’s natural state. It is often our worries, doubts and fears that get in the way.”

Reflection
Sometimes we forget that the body has its own healing system. Cut yourself, and the body tries to heal the wound before we reach for the antiseptic. Infection? The body sends all its troops to fight it before we reach for the antibiotics.
If it works for the whole body, surely it works for our mindset, too? If we can allow ourselves some of Jamie Smart’s clarity (QR #3) and calmness, perhaps?
But as Dr. De Leon reminds us, it’s usually, rather than often, that our worries, doubts and fears rear their ugly heads, and prevent the calmness and clarity from doing their natural work.
It’s just us dwelling on our insecurities that causes more harm than good.
We have the mental ability and imagination to ‘worry ourselves sick’.
Worry, stress & anxiety are the cause of so many illnesses that result in days off work.
We have the mental ability and imagination to think the very worst of ourselves as well as the best.
Self-doubt, low self-esteem, & low self-confidence can all add up to a very ‘low’ state of wellbeing.
We have the mental ability and imagination to allow our fears to control us.
Fear of failure, fear of rejection, or fear of simply not being good enough.
So, is it not time to have a re-think about how we think?
Particularly about ourselves.
Let’s perhaps focus on our strengths as opposed to our weaknesses.
And let’s be aware of our tendencies to overthink, to over-complicate, and to be over-critical of ourselves.
And let’s look for some of that clarity that Jamie Smart talks about.
