Ged’s ‘QR’ of the week #2

Quote

“You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. It makes you human.”

Reflection

For me, it’s not only that you don’t have to be positive all the time, it’s actually that you CANNOT be positive all the time.
A positive, in order to exist, needs a negative.
To enjoy happiness, you must understand sadness. To be calm, you must understand anger. And so it continues.
Lori reminds us that negative and positive feelings COMBINE to make us human.
The difference is how much we DWELL on our negative feelings or moments. Sometimes we simply can’t accept a negative feeling. We are trying to be positive.
But just to accept that it’s quite normal to experience a full range from plus to minus can free us up from getting stressed or anxious about how we are feeling.
Remember in Steven Bartlett’s quote, he says: “They also know that these things (feelings & imperfections) are perfectly normal.”
