Ged’s ‘QR’ of the week #1

Welcome to the first ever ‘QR’ of the week, a weekly series where Ged curates a thought-provoking quote and shares his personal reflections on it.

Quote

“Successful people have mental health issues, bad habits, gaps in their knowledge, moments of self-doubt, procrastination issues, imperfect routines, insecurities, and imposter syndrome, too.

But they also know that these things are perfectly normal. That is the difference.”

Reflection

This is just a wonderful reminder from Steve Bartlett that nobody’s perfect. We are all prone to having bad days, good days, & average days.
Days when we can feel lousy, days when we can feel great, and days when we can feel just ‘ok’.
It’s kind of an acceptance that things aren’t always how you want them that allows you to have the average to bad day and not DWELL on it.
Relating this quote to ‘Overthinking’, Steven is reminding us that we ALL overthink.
But that’s ok. As long as we don’t dwell on our overthinking of any given situation.
Steven reminds us in this quote that the feeling we are in at any given moment is not going to last forever.
It doesn’t matter what rung of the ladder you are on; we all have similar feelings.
The successful people he talks about simply let those feelings pass.
They accept them as part of life’s rich tapestry.
And they move on.
The ones who dwell on their feelings, and subsequently overthink them, are the ones who are likely to fall short.
